Red Quinoa in Real Power Cat Food
When designing our cat-food formulas, we considered that improperly processed grasses (Gramineae) such as wheat, and legumes, are more likely to trigger allergies in cats. We were excited to choose red quinoa, from the amaranth family (Amaranthaceae), and after extensive research concluded it is an excellent ingredient for Real Power cat food.
What is red quinoa?
Our organic red quinoa comes from the foothills of Peru, where it has been a staple of the Inca people for 4,000 years. As a cat-food ingredient it provides abundant essential amino acids (lysine, arginine, methionine, threonine, valine…), fibre, minerals and natural antioxidants — a gluten-free, low-carbohydrate choice. Quinoa has also been named a superfood by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
