What Is NMN? The Anti-Ageing Molecule Behind the Buzz — Explained for Pets

Remember what your pet was like when they first came home — lively, playful, bouncing everywhere? We all wish they could stay that way.

There may be a way to help. NMN (β-nicotinamide mononucleotide) is emerging as a key molecule in pet longevity. Harvard Medical School professor David Sinclair, a leading researcher in ageing, found that NMN supplementation returned muscle condition and energy-metabolism markers in 2-year-old mice to the level of 6-month-olds. The finding made NMN famous — reportedly even a favourite of investor Warren Buffett.

NMN: unlocking your pet's youth

NMN is the precursor of NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide), present in every cell and essential to energy metabolism and DNA repair. NAD+ declines with age — one reason both humans and pets slow down and lose vitality. NMN converts rapidly into NAD+ in the body, lifting NAD+ levels and powering cells to work properly.

"Why not supplement NAD+ directly?"

NAD+ itself is poorly absorbed; supplementing NMN is the practical way to raise NAD+ levels in the body.

What higher NAD+ does

  1. Slows ageing, promotes repair. NAD+ activates longevity proteins (sirtuins) and DNA-repair enzymes (PARP), maintaining cell health and repairing DNA damage.
  2. Boosts metabolism, keeps a healthy body condition. As a key metabolic coenzyme, NAD+ raises cellular energy production and metabolic capacity — helping pets stay lean and active.
  3. Strengthens cardiovascular health. Keeps vessels elastic, protects heart-muscle cells and supports circulation.
  4. Protects the brain. Supports the nervous system and neuroplasticity, aiding memory and learning and slowing cognitive decline.

Does my pet need NMN?

NAD+ falls steadily with age, and cellular and neural health drop sharply in middle and old age — if you wait until they're truly old, it's late. Beyond age, consider activity level, picky eating and disease risk. Pay special attention if your pet is:

  1. A senior dog or cat (7+)
  2. Low in activity
  3. A special breed
  4. Under stress or recovering from surgery

If unsure, discuss with your veterinarian and decide based on your pet's condition. NMN — the source of youth — can help your pet live every day with energy. Give them the best, and more years by your side.
