Health Benefits of Fish for Cats

Don’t you love it when your cat has a healthy, thick, and shiny coat? If you do, then you may be interested to know that the Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish in the market incorporates fish as one of the main sources of protein in the ingredients. Fish is often one of the components in a cat food formula because it contains abundant benefits and is also considered to be a superfood for cats. However, apart from the benefit mentioned above, many cat owners are not completely aware of the copious amount of benefits of fish on a cat’s health.

Fish provides a lean source of protein and it contains a rich amount of Omega-3 fatty acids which contains both EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid). DHA and EPA are essential to nerve cells, brain, heart, and joints. The DHA and EPA presented in Omega-3 fatty acids each have their own contributions to the pet’s health.

Omega-3 fatty acids help relieve itch and inflammation, promote a healthy and shiny coat, boost immunity, and alleviate joint pains. Scientific studies also revealed that Omega-3 can promote the alleviation of certain health issues or concerns including arthritis, allergies, inflamed bowel disease, cognitive issues, dry/flaky skin, disorientation, old age, stiff joints, dry coats, and poor nail health.

DHA has several positive influences on the pet’s health including anti-inflammatory for conditions that cause heart, skin, kidney, joints to inflame. It also helps reduce itchy skin, dandruff, inflammation, and shedding. DHA can also promote a healthier and shinier coat.

EPA also has additional benefits to the pet’s health such as developing brain and eye functions in kittens and is beneficial to pregnant pets and their offsprings.

With these many health benefits for consuming fish, its not a wonder that many cat foods incorporate fish into the ingredient to encourage a healthy lifestyle for cats.

Because fish has several health benefits for cats, all of Real Power’s cat food formulas contain salmon as one of the protein sources to provide Omega-3 fatty acids. In addition to fish protein, Real Power also incorporated fish oil into each formula for a greater proportion of Omega-3 fatty acids.
